The improvements made to the M16A1 Machine Gun transitioning it to the M16A2 design included a heavier barrel and a newer style rear sight. Other improvements for the M16A1 Machine Gun included a redesigned case deflector, improved buttstock, handguards, pistol grip and a selector for either a burst or full auto function.
